We welcomed our first baby Thanksgiving evening this past year. We experienced a few shift changes while laboring that day, but Brea was exceptional. When we talk to others about our labor and delivery experience we can't help but hone in on just how thankful we were for that specific shift change. She came into the room and immediately started to make the situation better. Small things like untangling all the cords that were connected to me and machines and questioning why in the world they were tangled. She was always closely monitoring me and baby and the second something seemed off she was on top of it. As my baby's heart rate began dropping after contractions she was so impressive with how she navigated the situation. Throughout the scary situation with his heart rate, moving me in all kinds of positions to try to get him happy, ensuring me without sugar coating things that it will all be alright, to the actual delivery which ended up being a cesarean, to being with us for the hour after and coaching me with breastfeeding, and then throughout the night that first night. I simply would not have wanted anyone else to be by our side through all of that. She is the perfect example of what people talk about when they say a good labor and delivery nurse makes all the difference. And she is phenomenal!!
